During five years with Middlesbrough, Martin Walker co-wrote two season handbooks (2001 and 2003) and two club history books (Boro Gold, 2002, and Whose that Team they call the Boro?, 2004).

Highlights also included several high-profile interviews and features in club publications with Terry Venables, Steve McClaren and the catwalk star Adriana Sklenarikova.

Martin’s job at Boro also included assisting the Communications Manager with the co-ordination of several high-profile media conferences, most notably Terry Venables’ arrival as Head Coach (November 2000), Bryan Robson’s departure as Manager (June 2001) and Steve McClarens’ arrival as Manager (July 2001) as well as the arrival of several high-profile players.

In addition to this, and after leaving Middlesbrough for Sunderland, Martin assisted MFC in co-ordinating their UEFA Cup Final press conference in May 2006, held at the Riverside Stadium.

He also continues to contribute to the club’s matchday magazine, Red Square.
